Dr. Mariano Querol

Born in Lima in 1925. He received his medical degree from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in 1949. With scholarships from the governments of Spain, France and Peru, he completed his three years residency in psychiatry at several university clinics in Madrid, Paris and Vienna. He received his Doctorate in Medicine in 1971, with a thesis of the use of the electroencephalogram in high altitude conditions, from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, where his was a founder and director of planning, and where he received a Professor Emeritus award.

In 1991 and 1992 he was the Director General of Mental Health at the Ministry of Health of Peru. In 1997 he received the Peruvian Medical College award for distinguished services to the nation. In 1999 he was elected Honorary Member of the Academia Peruana de Salud.

Currently active in private practice, performing individual and group integrative psychotherapy and promoting human less violent relations through body and emotional self consciousness improvement.

He has published many works on social and psychiatric problems such as violence, psychoactive drugs, sexuality, bioethics and ecology, with emphasis on the integration of the psychological, biological, social, ecological and spiritual aspects of the human being.

He continues his educational activities as a participant in conferences and through appearances on radio and television.

Currently exercises in, if possible, daily classes in modern and folk dancing.
